OAHSPE’s official first edition was published is 1882 by Four Winds Publications New York, New York USA, a printing company founded by Newbrough for the purpose of printing OAHSPE. Although, there is documentation of an 1881 addition that was recalled or perhaps was bound proof copies that have been lost to the ages. The 1882 edition of OAHSPE, had two identified editors, Walter Lockwood and S. Abrams. Abrams was also an editor of the 1891 edition published after Newbrough’s death that contained controversial changes. Abrams is quoted as saying he made additions to OAHSPE and changed the date of the New Year. Also, Book of Ouranothen and Levitica were not part of the original pre-1882 published OAHSPE but were given in trace through Newbrough between the years 1884 and 1891 at Shalam, New Mexico, site of the first Children’s Home. The paintings of the prophets were also given during these years at Shalam.
In recent years a number of editions of OAHSPE have been published almost too numerus to be counted. Some editions have various authors, perhaps indicating editing.
