What to look for when purchasing an OAHSPE online

OAHSPE A New Bible

When shopping for OAHSPE online keep the following in mind.

  1. Look for the number of pages Some editions have just 30 to 100 pages as they are not OAHSPE but just a print of the Wikipedia page about OAHSPE.
  2. Look for volume number some OAHSPE are printed in Multiple Volumes. 
  3. Don’t be fooled by a $900 price tag. Most book sellers that say they have the original 1882 are in fact selling a reprint from the 1960s. 
  4. If a seller is asking more the $40 by it form some one else. 

Most of the so-called First Edison OAHSPE 1882 are much later reprints.

Universal Faithist of Kosmon in California

  OAHSPE  Publication and Construction is a subcommittee of Universal Faithist of Kosmon California this subcommittee was started in 1989 by Arnold Arias, Cora Bennet, Kasandra Kares with Joan & Ken Greer to publish a new edition of OAHSPE that would be affordable and/or free. OAHSPE is now available in multiple formats including OAHSPE online and of OAHSPE a New Bible free pdfs. We are dedicated to helping people understand the differences between the many edition and formats of OAHSPE and  to provide free pdf copy's to the public.


OAHSPE 1882 and other Editions


OAHSPE’s official first edition was published is 1882 by Four Winds Publications New York, New York USA, a printing company founded by Newbrough for the purpose of printing OAHSPE. Although, there is documentation of an 1881 addition that was recalled or perhaps was bound proof copies that have been lost to the ages. The 1882 edition of OAHSPE, had two identified editors, Walter Lockwood and S. Abrams.  Abrams was also an editor of the 1891 edition published after Newbrough’s death that contained controversial changes. Abrams is quoted as saying he made additions to OAHSPE and changed the date of the New Year. Also, Book of Ouranothen and Levitica were not part of the original pre-1882 published OAHSPE but were given in trace through Newbrough between the years 1884 and 1891 at Shalam, New Mexico, site of the first Children’s Home. The paintings of the prophets were also given during these years at Shalam. 

  • The 1891 and 1882 Editions were published in various printings. 
  • 1910 to 1960 Kosmon Press of England published OAHSPE using the 1891 Edition but with some British spellings such as colour instead of color.
  • 1916 Justine Ballou Newbrough published an 1891 Edition, later selling the printing plates and unbound copies to E. Wing Anderson in the 1930s.
  • 1930s to 1955 E. Wing Anderson and the Essenes of Kosmon, published the 1891 edition in several printings.
  • 1960 Ray Palmer of Palmer Publications found and republished an 1882 OAHSPE. Palmer photocopied it and inserted from the 1891 edition the Book of Discipline, and the Index with adjusted page numbers.
  • 1998 OAHSPE - the Angel edition by David Cardone includes some of his poetry and is a copy of the 1891 edition. 
  • 2004 white paperback edition published by the Universal Faithists of Kosmon using the 1891 edition.
  • 2005 Rev. Steven Earl York edited and Published the first digital version of the 1882 OAHSPE. It is available from Amazon Kindle as well free PDF downloads in numerus places on the internet. 
  • ·2007 OAHSPE Standard Edition or Modern Language edition includes original pre-1882 OAHSPE and related material: Book of Knowledge, Book of Ouranothen and Levitica.
  •  2009 A reprint of the 1882 called the Raymond A Palmer Tribute Edition (two volumes of 1250 pages) published includes pencil drawings said to be by Newbourgh and Newbrough’s paintings of the prophets enhanced by Rein. 
  • 2012 The Gemini Edition (2 volumes) was published by Faithist Journal. A digital copy is available for download.
  • · 2018  re-formatted 1891 is an elegant tome published by the Eloists.
  • OAHSPE has also been translated to: Italian, Spanish, Portages Dutch, German and French in progress. 


In recent years a number of editions of OAHSPE have been published almost too numerus to be counted. Some editions have various authors, perhaps indicating editing.
